After months of development, we are excited to announce our first major update to the TransFam application! As of today, in-app chatting has been enabled, allowing heroes and supporters to get to know each other directly through the app.

As soon as we connect you with a potential match, they will show up in your in-app inbox, allowing you to learn a little more about them and giving you the option to either accept or reject the match.

Once both of you have accepted a match, a private chat channel between you opens. We have designed this to ensure that the person in need of help has maximum agency in deciding which supporter to work with.

Having this private channel gives both of you the opportunity to get to know each other better in a much more convenient & secure way. Once you both feel ready, we encourage you to move the conversation off of our app & onto an end-to-end encrypted messaging service like Signal.

Our goal is to give you the best chance to foster a meaningful & helpful connection, & we hope that our new chat & profile system will do just that!
